Which Material Is Good For Camping Tents
The materials of the wild camping tent can be divided into fabric, lining, bottom material, and pole.
1. Fabric
Compared to different fabrics, nylon silk is thin and lightweight, making it suitable for mountaineering and hiking campers. The oxford cloth is thick, but heavier, making it suitable for camping by car or in small groups. From the perspective of waterproof coating, although PVC is waterproof, it will be hard and brittle in winter, and it is easy to crease or break. The PU coating not only overcomes the defects of PVC, but also waterproofs it well. The waterproof pressure of multi-coated PU can reach more than 2000mm.
2. Lining
The lining (inner tent material) is usually made of cotton-type nylon silk with good air permeability. From the perspective of use, the performance of nylon silk is better than that of cotton. When camping outside, the tent is very easy to absorb moisture, the cotton cloth is not easy to mildew in the sun, and the nylon silk is easy to dry and not easy to mold.
3. Base material
The main function of the bottom of the tent is waterproof, moisture-proof, and dustproof. The choice of base material also determines the grade of the tent. Low-grade tents are usually made of PE
The bottom material, some with PVC, is low cost, double-sided laminated PE, although it has waterproof, moisture-proof function, but easy to wear and leak, winter is the nemesis of PVC base, and PU coated oxford cloth as the base, whether it is solidity, cold resistance, or waterproofness are greatly more than PE.
4. A strut
The poles of the tent are the skeleton of the tent. The quality of the skeleton material not only affects the life of the tent, but also affects the stability of the tent. In the early days, the tent poles were often made of steel bars, which not only increased the weight of the tent, but also had poor resilience. The improved tent skeleton selects the glass fiber strut, its weight is reduced, the resilience is improved, and the cost is lower, so the current tent manufacturers choose this kind of material to make the brace more, but the strength and solidity of the glass fiber strut are not ideal, if the thick brace is increased to increase the strength, the weight is also increased. The more ideal struts are aluminum alloy materials, and the struts connected by high-strength alloy pipes are not only high in strength, but also light in weight and have good resilience, especially in the EASTON struts made of aerospace aluminum, all kinds of indicators have reached an excellent state, so they are mostly used for high-end tents.
